Saturday Morning Home Improvement

I was listening to public radio one Saturday morning, and the program was about fixing up your home. Since I was driving around town, running errands, going grocery shopping; you know doing the regular Saturday morning thing, I had a chance to listen to this program on and off.

The topic of this week’s show was home decorating. I was amazed with some of the topics that people called up to discuss. There was one caller who was trying to match the color on her Lenox china poppy on blue with her walls, and didn't know how to do that. The hosts told her that she should just take the plate into a paint store with her and they could match it using their computers. After her call, some of the listeners heard that this woman wanted to match her Lenox china poppy on blue with her walls, and called in to call her crazy. It may seem a bit strange to want to match your plates with your wall color, but when you pay over hundred dollars for a place setting, you’ve got to remember that's more than the can of paint will cost you, so why wouldn't you? The hosts agreed with the caller, saying that a gallon of paint is only $20, if she gets sick of the blue color, she can easily change it.

Another caller called in wondering what she should do about a really small living room. Recommendations on which sort of furniture to purchase (not too big, so she doesn’t throw off the proportions of the room), and told her to paint her walls a light color.

By the time the radio program was over, I had already finished my Saturday morning chores. I had bought stamps, dropped off my bills, renewed my library books, and stopped by the supermarket for a couple of quick items. I hate doing these Saturday morning jobs, but this Saturday it wasn't too bad.

Here's something interesting:
